Spare the Dying

One of your number is dying, but there’s a chance to save them. A healer who ventures into the borderlands between life and death might be able to grab hold of their dying friend and bring them back into their body. It will take everything the healer has in them. They have a matter of seconds to act.

Spare the Dying is a D&D supplement that can be used when someone casts the Spare the Dying cantrip to save a fellow party member. Written for #CureLightWoundsJam 2019.

This game gives characters immense power over each other, and introduces risks that aren’t present in the Spare the Dying cantrip as written. Discuss whether you want to exchange that kind of power before adding this to your game, and again any time a player casts the Spare the Dying cantrip. If at any point one or more players doesn’t want to give, or have, that kind of power, put this game aside and work together to find a different way to resolve the spell.
